I found Christopher Cooper in 1861 Census at The Caddies, North
Leverton (where he was born), together with his wife, three children,
mother, sister in law and a couple of servants. What I failed to note
down was the full reference!! It could be RG9 2414 - but I don't have
the rest. Can anyone help please?
By 1881 he is in Brightside Bierlow, Sheffield, as a boarder with two
sons (daughter Susannah of about 19 years not with her father); the
landlady is a widow called Jane Cooper (but whether a relation I don't
know) with her two children and a niece of one year who was born in
North Leverton (Jane comes from Hull and her children from Sheffield).
He is still there on his own with Jane Cooper, who now has a one year
old grandson (yet another John Cooper! It's a very popular combination
in this line, John Cooper (my great grandfather) son of Christopher,
who is son of John, who is son of John!).
I have so far not been able to find him on an 1871 census in either
North Leverton or Sheffield. Can anyone help on this too, please?
