Hello fellow researchers and a Happy New Year to you all
I am a new subscriber to the list and believe that the families I am
interested in live in the area covered by the Notts list. These places are
Finningley, Everton, Auckley (or Awkley) and Misson. I know that the county
borders moved around a bit and sometimes some of these places are in
Yorkshire. My area of interest covers parts of Yorkshire, Notts and Lincs
so I am not always sure which list I should be on.
BINNS family in Auckley (Awkley)
I would like to find the parents of William BINNS born 1813 in Auckley.
William married Sarah BROWN on 25 June 1833. Sarah BROWN was born in Misson
I have found my William BINNS on 1851 census with his wife Sarah and family.
Living very nearby is William BINNS Snr, age 67 with his wife Ann and
children. I originally thought that this was father and son until I checked
the 1841 census. Both William BINNS appear but William BINNS Snr has living
with him a son also called William. I cant see that William Snr would have
two living sons called William.
On checking the IGI I can find a William BINNS birth on 23 Sept 1783 in
Finningley which would tie in the with William Snr above. Parents of this
William were Samuel BINNS and Elizabeth THOMPSON. This couple had other
children and I am wondering if one of the other sons of this couple could be
the father of my William BINNS born 1813.
If anyone has any information or connects with this family please get in
touch. I believe that some of the BINNS may have originated from the Everton
MOWBRAY in Finningley
I am also looking for information on parents of William MOWBRAY born abt
1809 in Finningley. He married Mary COLLIER 3 February 1831 The couple then
settled in Balby.
