Have you tried the IGI? MAnsfield is an ancient town and people from a
number of surrounding villages moved here as it was a pivotal centre. The
IGI could give leads as to where else BAMFORDS could be found. Remember
Derbyshire is not far away and so they could have come from that county,
there is also a village of that name on the Derbyshire Moors.
