I am sending this to list for general advice.
Was it an AMI BIOS? I only ask this as I know the guy in OZ who can make up
a new BIOS for any motherboard/chipset combination. I am sorry to offer
this advice after the event, but it may help others. A new M/B is probably
not such a bad thing anyway.
Also, beware - some viruses will survive a (high-level) format and come back
to haunt you. Manufacturers these days don't recommend a low-level format
for IDE drives, however, I have done a few this way without any trouble.
The best advice is probably to invoke FDISK /MBR (Master Boot Record) before

I am back online again after Monday's CIH Virus wiped my motherboards
flash rom and also my hard disk. Due to this virus I have had to buy a
