Searching for the home of Thomas and William Kitchen, who came to America
in July 1852. Thomas, who is my husband's ancestor, was born ~1817 in
England. I don't know where, but a Kitchen Forum on the Web says a lot of
the Kitchens came from Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. I contacted this
mailing list hoping someone out there may recognize these names in their
family history. Thomas Kitchen arrived in Deep Creek Township, Clinton
County, Iowa, sometime between 1852 and 1859, as his first wife is buried
in a cemetery near Bryant, and her tombstone says she died in 1859. Her
name was Charlotte. His second wife was named Sara A. Kitchen.
Thomas declared his intention to become a citizen in the Court of Common
Pleas in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, in December 1853. and his naturalization
took place in 1860 in Clinton County, Iowa.
I am looking for: bithplace of Thomas and William Kitchen, their bithdates,
their parents or any other family members in England, their port of
embarkation, and port of arrival in America.
