Not exactly geneaology, but may be of interest to people with an interest/connection in
Ilkeston's past history.
A small team has been working quietly for the past 8 months in the gardens of the old
vicarage in Ilkeston and have uncovered what we believe to be the remains of the medieval
vicarage house, along with the remains of the 16th century tithe barn. What makes this
discovery exciting is that this is the very first archaeological dig to take place and
produce results in Ilkeston.
