Hello listers, from sunny Australia. This is my first venture outside of
Australia in my quest for ancestry, and this is not an easy one. Seeking
information regarding my gr gr grandfather :
William Marsden Butler
Birth certificate of his son Thomas, indicates that William was born at "Old
Bradford". Is there any such place in Nottingham ? I am aware there is an
"Old Radford". Where would I start to look for him ? His birth year is by
virtue of the age shown on his son's birth certificate. I have no details of
when he entered Australia, or under what circumstances. He married in
Australia in 1851. It's possible his parents were Wiliam and Margaret.
looking forward to hearing from some kind lister

Could sks out there look up the marriage of William TERRY to Ann WHITT,
Basford, September 1854? The record is listed in the Free BMD index, and it
has a volume and page number i believe, but i just tried to get in and got
an error message. I am hoping to find more information about them from the
record. Any help very greatly appreciated! :)

Very few 1831 censuses for Nottinghamshire have survived, and neither
Caunton nor Southwell are amongst the ones which have survived. The only
pre-1841 censuses surviving have been transcribed and recorded in the Notts

Hi Again List
Don't very often put out queries, but 2 in a row, wow!
I have got the 1881 Census, it is the 2.0 version.
I have seen on the list recently that you can pull down boxes from the
Individual file, and also search under occupations. Is this only on the 3.0
Or am I just being thick? I don't seem to be able to pull any boxes down or
do anything but just a general search.
Hi - I am still on the trail of Charles Nelson HOLLOWAY of Nottingham. I am
looking for his death and I am hoping SKS could look to see if he died
between 1940 - 1950. By the way - how far forwards does the GRO Index go?
Seeking the parents of Ann GUNN b. June 17/1798 Stapleford, married Henry
OLDERSHAW on Oct.30/1815.
Parents possibly; James GUNN & Hannah ELLIOT.
James GUNN b. 1803
Sarah GUNN b. 1807
Thomas GUNN b. 1810
Could some kind person please lookup Abraham and Zilla KAYE in the 1851 census for Bingham, Nottingham.
He was a school master and she was born in Haworth in 1810. They had a son James Edwin who was born in Bingham in 1852 and I am hoping the 1851 census will tell me more.
I am trying to date some old family photographs and wondered if someone could look the photographers up in trade directories. Here are a couple to begin with.
G GIBSON, 8 Peck Lane, Nr South Parade, Nottingham
John CALOE, Old Basford, Nottingham.
I am guessing dates of around 1880.
Irene in Essex.

Has anyone informed that poor soul who keeps asking to be unsubscribed, how
to get off the list yet? I keep getting message after message in my mailbox
with his plea to be unsubscribed and was just wondering if anyone had
helped him along yet.
