I'm already indexing projects for FamilySearch. See my blog here:

ward
My local gen soc is indexing as a group as well.
I really like the idea of promoting the indexing project because it may
inspire people to volunteer to transcribe records---not just the 1940
census---for us too.
BTW, I received an email from a newbie genealogist named Michael who offered
his help in transcribing records. Michael decided to visit Mount Olivet
Cemetery in Newark and help transcribe their records instead. I haven't
heard back to see how that's going. Shawn, have you heard anything? I'm
hoping it works because he said he'd do Evergreen in Hillside for me next.
Of course, that's like thousands and thousands of graves.
The Gen Soc of NJ has a list of things they'd like help with transcribing
too.

Subject: [NJGEN] 1940 Census Indexing Project
As many of you may already know, Family Search has set up an indexing
project for The 1940 Census, which is due to be released in 10 days.
FLGenWeb has registered to be one of the groups to index the 1940 census.
Their site is located at:
https://sites.google.com/a/flgenweb.org/1940floridacensus/
I am seriously considering creating a page for the 1940 census for New
Jersey similar to the Florida site.
I also know that Sherri has registered the USGenWeb with Family Search
also.
Would love to hear what your thoughts are on this.
Thanks.
Denise
