"high quality content" needs to be defined. Are we being asked to do the
leg work for
Ancesty.com, after all they do own Rootsweb and all of its
content. I do not believe our volunteers should have to provide content
outside of their volunteer means. A volunteer should need only be asked to
provide information they have available or easily acquired, to display on
their web site. Any volunteer who wishes to go out of their way to provide
additional content to the public should be allowed to do so, but if they
can not, they should not be punished for it.

I guess I'm unclear where the punishment comes in.
I'm also unclear as to why we are discussing
Ancestry.com. So they own
Rootsweb. Your site isn't even on a Rootsweb site.
I am sure that there are some of us who have materials that we could provide
to others for their sites. Others do not. I think of this as a way of our
volunteers helping other volunteers. I don't see anywhere in this article
that someone will be "fired" for not going out and getting
"materials" beyond
their means. But in helping each other, we ultimately receive help.
I'm just stumped at the response here.
