Dear NJGenWeb Coordinators:
At this time my life is very busy, and I am the first one to admit that many times
recently it has been a struggle to keep up with the inquiry email and web work generated
by both my own NJGenWeb web sites, and the several "available for adoption"
sites I maintain as SC. In addition to NJGenWeb, I have a new job, and state
responsibilities with the DAR. Also I am handling the estates of two recently departed
family members. I have come to the ultimate conclusion that I can no longer devote the
many hours that I have in the past, to NJGenWeb.
I therefore immediately resign from the NJGenWeb project. I give up the Atlantic, Cape
May, and Salem County web sites, in their current state to become the joint property of
the NJGenWeb Project, but not the property of any individual or county coordinator. I give
up the temporary coordinatorship of the un-adopted counties listed on our state web site,
as the property of the NJGenWeb Project, and not to any individual within the project. I
retain the copyright to all photographs that I have placed on those sites, however I will
allow the NJGenWeb Project to use them indefinitely, as long as I am credited as the
source.
I give up the coordinatorship of Gloucester County. At the same time I retain the
copyright and ownership to all of my current web pages, photographs, likenesses and files
at the Gloucester County NJGenWeb web site, located on my personal domain at
http://nj.searchroots.com/Gloucesterco/ as my exclusive personal property. I am in the
process of removing logos and references to USGenWeb and NJGenWeb from the site, and I
have UN-linked it from the state project site. I hold the position of local historian, and
I intend to continue this site as a local history site, minus any reference to NJGenWeb
and USGenWeb.
When I adopted this site in 2003 it was a single web page with only links to other places.
The site now contains a huge amount of my own personal research and photographs which I
intend to retain, and do not want used without my written permission. This means that
someone at the NJGenWeb Project will have to create a unique and new Gloucester County Web
site as a replacement. Here is a link through the waybackmachine as to what this site
looked like before I adopted it. You are free to copy any information found there.

My decision has absolutely nothing to do with the new banners expected to appear soon from
Rootsweb. Trust me that a Rootweb banner is NOT the worst thing that can happen to your
project sites. As you may discover in the future, it is personal egos of your future
leaders that may be the downfall of both the NJGenWeb and USGenWeb projects. I believe
that removing web sites from Rootsweb to private servers will help the demise of NJGenWeb,
not prevent its demise. It is only my opinion, and I most certainly respect yours if it
differs from mine.
I have recently removed my name and email address from all of the NJGenWeb web sites I was
formerly associated with. I expect you all to do the same. After a brief leeway of 30
days, should I receive any email inquiries about the NJGenWeb Project, they will be
deleted immediately and not answered or forwarded. For those of you with whom I have
maintained a cooperative, positive relationship, I wish you the best in your endeavors.
Information about how to log-in to the state project including the NJGEN mailing list, the
state project web site, and all county project web sites that are hosted on rootsweb, are
already in the possession of the NJGenWeb ASCs. They have all the information they need
to run the project smoothly and to assist in the election of a new SC. I know you will
all cooperate them as the project moves on to bigger and better heights.
I sincerely hope that I have left NJGenWeb as a better and improved project, than when I
first joined it. You have all become good friends, and I depart with that spirit of
friendship intact.
Best Wishes
Janice Brown
