I need everyone to check your websites and not just your logos, but the use
of XXGenWeb.
In other words, if you have NJ GenWeb, or New Jersey GenWeb or US GenWeb or
any other inappropriate display of the project name, it MUST be corrected.
There was a huge discussion that caused upset with one specific person on
the Discuss list, and this does need to be addressed.
If you don't know how it should be displayed on your sites, please check
with me or one of our ASCs.
The only proper display is as follows:
USGenWeb
The USGenWeb Project
NJGenWeb
Bergen County, NewJerseyGenWeb is wrong. (Gee, I hope I don't have that on
my site anywhere!) However, it is wrong and must be corrected.
There is a GenWeb copyright out there held by someone else. So, any use of
GenWeb on its own is a violation of that person's copyright.
I have begun discussion on the Advisory Board and regional reps will be
reviewing states and counties for infractions. Your kind assistance in
having our state being a good example of the proper display would be much
appreciated.
Thanks.
