I've just wandered through our NJ counties and see that there are some
instances of the word "GenWeb" used separately and standing on its own.
This is a trademark infringement upon someone else's trademark of that
word.
GenWeb cannot be used separately and this needs to be corrected across the
entire USGenWeb Project. Please see below as to the proper manner to
display names:
Atlantic County, NJGenWeb - good
Atlantic County GenWeb - infringement
NJGenweb - good
NJ GenWeb - infringement
New Jersey GenWeb - infringement
The only acceptable display of New Jersey should be NJGenWeb.
If you have a space before GenWeb, it is wrong.
As you may or may not be aware, even though the National election has not
occured, I was the only person who was nominated for the position of
National Coordinator and accepted. Consequently, I will remain in this
position with the Project, and with the coming of 2016 and our 20 year
anniversary, I would really like to continue my efforts in assisting in
getting the Project polished.
If you have any suggestions on how to celebrate our 20 year anniversary,
let me know. We need to spiff up the entire project and market our great
Project to draw more researchers and hopefully new county coordinators for
available counties.
Next May the NGS conference will be held in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Since I
am in Miami Beach, I will definitely be at the conference. Hopefully, I
will be able to meet lots of USGenWeb Volunteers at the conference. I have
recently joined the Florida State Genealogical Society and am very excited
about next year's major conference in South Florida.
If you plan to attend next May, please let me know. Thanks.
