I have to agree with you. If a bylaw is to be amended, then I think that it
should be better thought out and all inclusive. Right now this is nothing
but a small bandage on a great big sore.

Denise,
Three comments on this proposal.
1. There is no indication that the USGW logo has been trademarked or
registered. Let's hope that it is and, if it is, the logo should indicate
that fact. I know the whole page is copyrighted but logo itself should
include the proper mark within the logo itself. If it hasn't been
protected, then the whole idea of restricting its use is moot, anyone can
use it for any purpose they want.
2. I'm not sure why we would want to include this in the USGW Bylaws. If
someone who is a member of USGW uses the logo improperly, then remove them
from USGW. If there is a site out there which uses the logo and the site
is not part of USGW, they are under no obligation to read or obey the USGW
bylaws. If the logo is protected, then you send that person a cease and
desist letter and follow up with court action. Including the proposed
change in the bylaws has no effect as the bylaws are only obeyed by the
"good guys" anyway.
3. The proposal would, under certain circumstances, link the USGW logo to
the state page. I think that is wrong. The USGW logo should go to the
USGW page, always. If a state wants to have its logo on county pages,
like NJ does, then the state logo goes to the state site.
In general, not a good proposed changed and I don't think it will
accomplish the intended purpose.
