Dear members of the USGenWeb Project,
As you know a special election is being held to fill the positions
of National Coordinator and Southwest/South Central County
Coordinator Representative.
Nominations will be open for the four week period commencing
Dec 3, 1998 and ending at midnight CST Dec 31, 1998.
Before you nominate someone please check to ascertain that your
nominee qualifies according to the bylaws:
Article VI Section 9. Nominees for National Coordinator shall have the
following
qualifications: at least one year (the twelve months immediately
preceding an
election) of continuous service and current activity as a member in good
standing,
and eligibility to vote within The USGenWeb Project. Qualifications of
nominees for
State Coordinator Representative, Local Coordinator Representative, and
Special
Project Representative are the same with the addition that their service
shall have
been as a State Coordinator, Local Coordinator, or one of the various
positions
associated with the Special Projects, respectively. "In good standing" is
demonstrated by responding promptly to email, actively supporting
researchers'
efforts to find information, maintaining their website with appropriate,
up-to-date
content, and serving as a good example of the guidelines and standards of
The
USGenWeb Project.
You may read this yourself
at:http://www.usgenweb.org/official/bylaws.html
The nominating committee will receive each nomination, and will make sure
the nominated person meets the qualifications outlined in the bylaws for
that position. If so, the nominees will be contacted individually and
asked if they will accept the nomination. Please make sure you include
your nominee's email address.
Once a proposed nominee accepts the nomination his or her name will be
posted at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilhardi2/nomi.htm
In a departure from the last election, because of complaints, the
nominating
committee will not be posting bios and pictures of the candidates. Each
candidate will be responsible for putting up their own campaign/bio page.
The nominating committee will place a link to the candidate's page beside
their name, as soon as possible after the URL is supplied to the
committee.
Send your nominations to:
nominate(a)usgenweb.org
THE COMMITTEE WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY NOMINATIONS BEFORE DEC. 3, 1998.
Thank you for your cooperation,
Ginger Hayes
