Hello Everyone,
I am a listowner, and a county coordinator, recently there has been some
trouble with an individual who is soliciting his services on most all of the
NJ lists, the services are genealogy for pay type services.
I do know that rootsweb does not prohibit but discourages this soliciting of
pay type services, and the advertising of materials for sale, I would like to
see it stay that way. In fact perhaps the rules need to be more clearly
defined. I would rather see the lists stay free of such threads. I think it is
really important to stick to the exchange of genealogy, period.
Please consider how it would affect us all, how much more email we would all
have cluttering our "mail boxes" if we let everyone solicit genealogy services
and other types of genelaogy materials.
I think there are more appropriate places for genealogy for hire. In fact the
person with such services can contact the individual privately, there is
nothing to stop him from taking that approach. And most of us county
cooridinators have appropriated space for such things as this.
Thanks,
Sheila
