My grandfather went to this school about 1896/7. Just wondering if anyone had any records for this school. I have a photo of when he was alot older going to a school reunion but would not know what year this would be. He looks to be in his 60's or more.
still looking for SHERWOOD folk.
I have a birthday coming up (happy birthday to me!!!)
Can anyone recommend some good genealogy and early settlers (mainly Christchurch and Thames) books (About NZ obviously). As I was thinking of asking the birthday fairy to get me a good book two..
HI Kevynne, lots of possibilities there.I have a strange relationship. my
mother was born in New Zealand 1927. In 1931 her mother was supposed to have
drowned and in 1933 she was taken back to New Zeland to be brought up by her
aunts and grandparents. Since doing my research it is now revealed that her
parents divorced in 1933 and that her mother remarried twice and had 6 more
siblings. My mother knows nothing of their existence and I am now beginning
to think that they know nothing of her or her real brother and sister. I
have written to some of them using snail mail but none of them have bothered
to answer. Their children are my cousins I would think.

Below is an extract from the coroners report on my great grandmother Eliza
Jane MILLER who died in Waiouru in 1908.
I am hoping someone will recognise a name or the location and be able to
enlighten me on what type of camp this refers to.
"Mrs MALONE was present and asked me to ring for a Doctor. I went to Mr
SIMPSON'S residence and asked to telephone to Taihape for a doctor. Mr
Simpson told me to return to the camp & get one of the men to ring up. I
asked James BIDDOLPH to ring.. the camp is a mile and a half from Mr
Other names mentioned are Mr LENNOX (a minister), Mr PETER's, Patrick
MALONE, & his wife was Margaret Downey MALONE. The doctor was Ernest
Cuthbert BARNETT from Taihape.
I should mention that Archives NZ cannot find my great grandfather (John
James MILLER) in any railway archives or Dept of Works in Waiouru circa
Thanks in anticipation
I was wondering if SKS is going to the Auckland Regional Office of the Archives and can check out a probate for me.
Before I order a copy, (at a considerable cost which includes a $25.65 research fee for overseas researchers), I want to be sure that I have the right person.
Archives Reference is BBAE 1570 2843/65 and the name is James William Taylor. The James I am looking for would have been born in Australia.
Not sure if by going in person, one needs to pay to look at the document, or if you can actually view the document before paying for copying. I would be happy to pay for postage and copying, providing I have the right person.
If you can help or have any suggestions, let me know.

My PISSEY ancestors were from the Hockley/Southchurch area
of Essex. I am trying to trace descendants :-
John PIZZEY b 1925 West Ham, son of Edwin Arthur Frederick PISSEY
and Margaret SCHOLES.
John married Elsie M SANDWELL 1947 in Chelmsford, and they moved to
New Zealand, may have had 2 sons.
Any advice on finding living people in NZ? And is anyone else researching
Carol from Portsmouth, England
Any help gratefully recieved,
I have a photo of my Grandmother taken in 1949, Hawkes Bay, on the back is written President of the B.W O Club, I would imagine the W is for "Women's"
At the time she would have been living in Haumoana, HB and had moved from Hastings, HB, could have traveled into Hastings as only 15 mins away by car, though in those days would have taken longer.
Kind regards Pamela

I would like to know when Edward Percy Oak b May 1902 Hastings, Sussex married and to whom. It would not have been possibly until after 1922 but nothing up to 1920.
