I am looking for descendants of Bessie CARTER (nee EVANS) who lived in
Gisborne NZ for the greater part of her life.
Bessie had a daughter May CARTER.
I know that a grandaughter of Bessie's was researching the EVAN'S family,
who were from Otautau.
Another grandaughter was closely connected to the Vintage Car Club in
Gisborne and she and he husband attended a Vintage Rally in Palmerston North
and displayed their French car in Foxton, where I met them.
Hoping that someone recognises this family.

My grandfather arrived in NZ in 1880, sponsored by and uncle, who to
this day, has been nameless. With the help of kind Kiwis - like myself
<g>> - I've tried but to no avail.
Is there any way of finding out who immigrants were sponsored by?
I have the name of the ship and the date of arrival in Auckland.
Any help would be most appreciated.

Good morning New Zealand,
As a new list member, I would be very interested to know if anyone
could point us to my wife's relations who were supposed to have emigrated
to NZ during the 1880's or later from the Northampton area.
Are there equivalent emigrations lists like the US Immigrant Ships
Transcribers Guild lists?
Thanks for any information,
Gill and Martin Southwood

A big hello everyone from here in England!!
I'm Dave Clews and my wife is called Janet. Her maiden name was HUFF. Her
father was JOSEPH WILLIAM HUFF born 1920 in England. Grandfather was JOSEPH
HUFF born (we think) 1895 in Oroura Downs near Foxton, North Island. Her
great grandparents were GEORGE HENRY HUFF and CARRY (Caroline) nee TAYLOR
who married in 1875 and had a number of other children.
We are interested in:
a. the antecedents of George and Carry
b. their sibling descendents and particularly any now living in the area who
may be related to us
c. contacting anyone else whose family trees/interests overlap
d. assisting anyone in NZ we can with research in UK.
Looking forward to making contacts.
