Thanks Reta, I will check the newspaper archives out. The google ones you referred to
were queries that I had put in a few years ago. I have since found lots of info on Johan
and Vaino Pyhtila but not August.

Subject: [Nevada] Mountain Echo Band- Reno, Nevada 1901
Hi Nancy,
You may want to try the archives in the Reno Gazette Journal newspaper. The Nevada
State Journal quit a few years ago & merged with the RG.
It's in Washoe County, Nv.....

Good Luck in your search.

Hi,
I have a newspaper clipping from the Daily Nevada State Journal of March 31, 1901, Reno,
Nevada. The title is: Their First Concert- and reads: Last evening the Mountain Echo
Band gave a concert from the balcony of the Reno Wheelmen's club house. This was the
first appearance of the new band in the open air. Although the air was chilly, a number
of people stood on the sidewalk and enjoyed the concert.
Has anyone ever heard of the Reno Wheelmen's club house or ever heard of this band?
My husband's grandfather, Johan Pyhtila, and two of his brothers, vaino and August,
played in this band, probably not all at the same time though. We don't know of any
of them ever living in Reno. Two of them were miners and lived in Utah, Montana,
Wisconsin, Michigan and finally in NY. We do have several pictures of this band but only
one of the pictures can we identify our ancestor but have no idea where the pictures were
taken. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who might have info on this band. Thanks.
