I recently discovered I had a Great Uncle, Fred Knecht. He, apparently traveled west to
find Gold. My Uncles, today, tell me they received word in the 1930's that Fred
Knecht was shot and killed. They also informed me that they received word from either the
Elks Club, or Moose Club in Nevada that they were taking care of the buring of Fred Knecht
and if the family wished to contact them to proceed to Nevada.
My Uncles traveled to the State of Nevada sometime in the 1930's. They can't
remember were they went. When they got to their destination they could not find anyone to
help them locate the burial site of their Uncle Fred Knecht.
Now, in 2003, they are remembering this as an unsolved mystery and wish to find out
anything they can regarding their missing Uncle Fred Knecht. He was born between 1878 and
1882, probably in St. Peter, IL. We have no record of a marriage or children.
Any help regarding this missing relative would be appreciated.
Thank you
Karen Zelmer
