According to "Political History of Nevada - 1996" issued by Dean Heller,
Secretary of State, George D. Coburn served in LANDER county in 1869. White
Pine was created from a portion of Lander in 1869 so he may have been living
in the Treasure City, Hamilton, etc. area of White Pine or have been from
Austin. In 1877 he was representing White Pine County.
The book I am referring to is available through the Nevada Secretary
of
State. Unhappily, the White Pine County courthouse burned in 1885 and a lot
of records were lost. White Pine County Library has an excellent microfilm
collection of old newspapers. That would be your best source for finding
more information on Mr. Coburn.
