I'm using version 4.5 of Netscape. Never had a problem with it.
My impression is that certain settings in your computer or other
programs present (such as antivirus) can cause perpetual problems. That
should not necessarily reflect on the computer itself, or on
Netscape, either. Yet the program (as Netscape) is usually blamed.
A year or two ago I had problems of various sorts off and on day after
day. Turned out to be a bad (old) motherboard.

What OS and Netscape versions are you using? I've been using (and
getting error messages along the way) with Netscape since 1994:-)
I do know that the newer versions (since AOL's buyout) have been really
buggy...I finally ordered the CD thinking it would be better, and then
uninstalled and returned to 4.51...most stable I've found so far. I'm
running a new PIII 550MHz with 128mb ram and 20gb hard drive, so I know
it's not the machine...but 4.7, 4.72, and 4.73 were horrible and then
when I went back to 4.51 I've had none of the illegal operation errors.
I'm hoping 6 will be better, but I'm not willing to be a guinea pig for
that one til I hear from others. I've gotten a lot of help on the
newsgroups, but you have to wade through lots of messages...so was
hoping this list would be a place for us common people to share and help
each other, too!
