Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
In Ver 4.7x with full headers I could scroll down throught the header
and the message. In Ver 7.1 I can show the full headers but I cannot
scroll down. I think I see the first few lines but not everything. I
often want to see what e-maill program composed the message.
I have installed Netscape 7.1 on my new computer and have copied my
old user profile files, mail, bookmarks and addresses to a temporary
file on my new machinve. I was using 4.73 on my old one.
I was able to import my Address Book into 7 but got two books..
Although the 4.73 file was pab.??? and the 7.x is Personal Address
Book.??? I renamed pab and now have one book.
I tried to import my Mail, When I click on Import the window opens but
I cannot enter the location where my mail is.
I cannot find anything about importing my bookmarks. Can it be done?
From a message on Netscape.com I thought the easieest was to tranfer
was to install 7.7x on my new machine. however the only installation CD
I have came from bellatlantic.net. When I try to establsish an account
the telephone number dieals but the remote computer does not respond. No
idea where I am dialing. Verizon help is clueless. OK, I will download
4.7x and install. Ha!. Although the Nescape web site says you can
download 4.7x, when I try all I get is a 7.2 download site. is 4.73
available to download?
Assuming you use a POP mail account, this can sometimes be caused by a
corrupt or malformed email message. Two solutions: if you have access
via the web to your mailbox (webmail), you can go in and delete the
offending message (the next one after those you received), or you can
call your ISP tech support and cajole them into doing th same.
I notice you are using Netscape 7.1, which is replete with many
problems. Netscape 7.2 has been out for a while and is built on a much
newer version of the Mozilla code. However, Netscape 7.2 is not built
on the latest Mozilla code. I would consider upgrading to either
Mozilla current version or at least Netscape 7.2.

I have an eMac , OS 10.3, using NETSCAPE and COMCAST. Earlier today the
email Subject Listings stopped but the Home Account INPUT shows (31)
messages to be read and processed . Only two are under the Subject List.
Over the past few hours 25 messages should have come in and be showing.
I bought a new computer and in preparing to move my files and install
Netscape 7.1 on the new computer, I discovered that many of my mail
files, Inbox, Drafts etc, were hugh, several MB, as was the netscape.hst
file at 1244 KB. Compacting folders did not seem to work.
By moving files to Temp folders, deleting the old folder, recreating
manually or automatically the old folders, I was able to reduce the file
sizes by a lot.
The one file I can not seem to change is the netscape.hst file at 1244
KB. I went to History in Netscape and deleted all. I closed Netscape
and in My Computer deleted the netscape.hst file. When I reopened
Netscape the netscape.hst file returned at 1244 KB.
What is this file and how can I reduce its size?
Please reply to me as well as the list as my ISP won't let me get
messages from this list.
