After reading your posts, I think that I have found your Jerusha. I kept
thinking that she must have been acquainted with William S. "Jones" somehow
in Nebraska, or following one or more of her children when they married and
moved. While looking for a William "Jones" in Nebraska, I kept coming
across the name spelled JOHNS. So, following that lead, and knowing that
Jerusha's daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Jane and Golias Bonebrake, were in
Doniphan Co., KS by 1870, here is what I stumbled across:
1870 census, Doniphan Co., Center Township, 29 June, Troy, Kansas:
Dwelling 197, family 215.
JOHNS, Jerusha, age 49, keeping house, value real estate $500, value
personal estate $400, b. OH
DENNING, John, age 14, b. Indiana
JOHNS, James C., age 19, b. Missouri
Johns, Eliza, age 23, value personal estate $150, b. Indiana
Johns, William S., age 2, b. MO
Now, to me this looks like Jerusha was a widow (of William S. Johns -- not
Jones), and living with her is perhaps a nephew named John Denning. Also
living next door is Eliza Johns, perhaps a daughter-in-law to William S.
Johns, as Eliza clearly named her infant (age 2) William S. Was this child
named after his grandfather William S. Johns who married Jerusha?
I feel pretty confident that this is your person, and I hope that this gives
you a new lead to follow.

Subject: [NEOTOE] FOUTS
Need help locating information on the FOUTS
family, i.e., Peter and Jerusha's childre of
whom I have only traced Martha and spouse
Wm Cralle Fowlkes, Mary C. & spouse Samuel
Staley, and Sarah Jane and spouse Golias
The others remain elusive other than I believe
the son Jame Emanuel born 1845 died 1850.
Need information on Frances born 1852, Mary
Elizabeth born 1843, and Henry born 1849.
Thanks so much for your help with these
children of Peter & Jerusha.
Unfortunately have not been able to locate
Jerusha and 2nd spouse William S. Jones
after their marriage on 10 Oct 1864. Not in
any Federal Census Index for 1870, 1880 or
Was said that possibly Jerusha was of
Cherokee Lineage. Could her and William
have went to a Reservation somewhere in
IN/OK/AR or other area to live out there lives?
If so where?
Also what puzzles me is that there is no divorce decree for Jerusha
and Peter as they
were together in 1860 census but she remarries
in 1864. Strange puzzle this lady.
