I have read in William G. Cutler's "History of the State of Kansas" that my ggggrandfather, George W. Wheeler, who eventually settled in Kansas, spent time in Otoe County before going on to Kansas. Specifically it states that the senior Wheeler was one of the pioneers of Otoe County, locating near Nebraska City. The biographical sketch then goes on to discuss two of George's sons. I have found George and his family listed on the 1860 Nebraska Territorial Census, but have not found any other historical references for Nebraska definitive for this area. Can anyone give me an idea of a good reference for those historical times in Otoe County? Does this name mean anything to anyone? Any and all suggestions are greatly accepted, and thanks.
