I have Ralph Earle SMITH, born 1889 in Allen Co., KS to Henry B. and Orpha
Smith. Henry was found on the 1856 Clayton Co., IA state census as an
infant with his parents, John and Adaline M. Smith.
Ralph married Margaret E. FISHER in KS. They were on the 1940 census in
Lincoln. Lancaster Co., NE, but she was listed as "Mildred." .
If I've picked the right Smith from the SSDI, he died in Lincoln, Sept.
1977.
They had 2 children, Ralph E. Smith, Jr. born about 1915 and Ellen R.
Smith, born about 1917.
I was able to trace them because Margaret/Mildren's father, Daniel H.
SMITH, was visiting with his wife, Emma BROWN, both born in Westmoreland Co.,
PA, but transferred to KS when he broke his hip and died in Omaha, Douglas
Co., NE.
This was his obituary:
Quote:
"The following was in the Latrobe Bulletin (PA) on Monday, May 9, 1938:
D. H. Fisher
Word has been received by friends in Latrobe of the death of Daniel H.
Fisher, a former resident, who died at his home in Omaha, Nebraska, April 30th.
Mr. Fisher fell and broke his hip February 16th and never fully recovered.
At the time of his residence in Latrobe, he was employed at the Railway
Steel Spring Company plant and lived on Fairmont Street. He was 70 years old.
He is survived by his widow and two children. Mrs. Ralph Smith of Omaha,
Nebraska and James Fisher of Kansas City, Mo. Several grandchildren also
survive."

I have Emma's death certificate from the State of MO. She died two years
later in MO.
So I feel reasonably sure I do have the right death date and place for at
least Ralph Earle SMITH. Can anyone perhaps find an obit for Ralph that
might lead me to those numerous grandchildren?
