Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Just a note to remind you that if you have genealogy data -- old family
records, like wills, deeds, info from a family Bible, old family photos, for
example -- that you would like to contribute to the county site, or if you
have data that you have transcribed, please send it to me (please mention
the county name in the subject line as I am coordinator for more than one
county!) and I'll add it to the site:
And hey, don't be afraid to talk up things on this list either. ;-)
I wanted to remind everyone that if you are using any sort of filter or spam
blocker that it might hinder your ability to receive mail from someone who
sees a query, surname posted, etc. and tries to contact you.
If you have lots of spam trouble, you might try to get a separate email
address just for genealogy and do not filter or block mail from it (that's
what I do *grin*).
This came to my attention as someone sent me a surname to add to a county
list and when I sent a reply to let him know it was added, my email bounced
because of personal filters. Oops! LOL
Anyway, have a great weekend and happy researching!
