I've "rescued" an old photograph of Myron J. HAIG which was taken at the I.
Glerum Studio in Devils Lake, North Dakota. The photograph was taken in
January 1900 with Myron looking to be in his early teens at the time. Based
on limited research I was able to find Myron HAIG in the 1900 census along
with his family living in Devils Lake, ND. Census records provide the
following information regarding the family:
John A. HAIG, age 51, born Oct 1848, married 24 years, born in NY, parents
born in NY, can't read occupation
Mary HAIG, wife, age 47, born Mar 1853, married 24 years, 4 children/4
living, born in NH, parents born in NH/VT
Earnest A. HAIG, son, age 21, born Feb 1879, born in NY, at School
Allen V. HAIG, son, age 17, born Sept 1882, born in NY, at School
Myron S. HAIG, son, age 14, born Sept 1885, born in NY, at School (different
Helen E. HAIG, dau, age 12, born May 1888, born in NY, at School
In 1920 I find Myron HAIG living in Los Angeles, California with his family,
census records providing the following information:
Myron HAIG, age 34, born in NY, parents born in NY/VT, can't read occupation
Mabel HAIG, wife, age 35, born in MN, parents born in VA/IN
George HAIG, son, age 8, born in MN
Records further indicate that Myron John HAIG b. 25 Sept 1885, Mother's
maiden name HAWLEY, born in NY, died in Los Angeles Co., CA on 7 Feb 1951 at
the age of 65 years.
I am hoping to locate someone from this HAIG Family so that this wonderful
old photograph can be returned to its rightful place with family. If you
are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact
I just recently found out that my great-grandmother married a 2nd time,
and moved with her new husband to Garske, ND, where she died. I have now
ordered and received her death certificate, and would like to share the
information contained in it, and offer some corrections to the mistakes
I see there. A transcript of the certificate is below.
I would be very interested to know more about this Charles GARSKE. I
have found him in the Federal Censuses of 1900, 1910, and 1920, and in
the Dakota Territorial census of 1885. But so much is missing. Any
further information would be greatly appreciated.
