Hysjulien Rites Held in Columbus
Funeral services were held on Friday, Dec. 28th, at 2 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran church
in Columbus, for Anna Hysjulien, long time resident of Burke count. Rev. Owen Gaasedelen
was the officiating clergymen; Mrs. Henry Swenson was the organist and Nels Kleppen and
Mrs. Daniel Hysjulien were soloists and sang some of her favorite hymns. Burial was in
the family plot in Bethany Lutheran cemetery. Pallbearers were Elmer Kleppen, Julian
Henderson, Norbert Kihle, Alfred Koppelsoen, Phillip Lunstad, and Merton Watterud.
Stakston Funeral Home of Noonan was in charge of arrangements.
Born at Henefoss, Norway, October 27, 1886, the former Anna Stenseth spent her early life
in that country, coming to the United States as a young girl. The family came to Burke
county in the early days and was united in marriage to Tobias Hysjulien, January 9, 1907.
They resided nearly all their married life on Mr. Hysjulien�s homestead in Keller
township, south of Larson. Mr. Hysjulien died February 20th, 1950, and for some time she
has lived in Columbus.
She died at her home in that city, the day before Christmas, following a long period of
ill health, at the age of 76 years.
She is survived by ten children, seven boys and three girls, all of whom were here for
the funeral services. The boys are Rueben of Powers Lake, Morris of Crosby, Roald of
Everett, Wash., Vern of Columbus, Wayne of Hibbing, Minn., Lynn on Noonan, and Glen of
Othello, Wash., The girls are Mrs. Henry (Ruth) Hassel of Columbus, Mrs. Kent(Harriet)
Anderson of Sidney, Mont., and Mrs. Gordon (Thelma) Wallin of Noonan.
