He needs to contact the Old Tryon Genealogy Society in Forest City, NC.
That society is one of the very best and will most assuredly help him. Old
Tryon County was only in existance for about 10 years (1769-1779, I think),
and covered the Rutherford County area as well as much of upper SC. After
the Revolution, it was dissolved and several counties formed from it, one of
which was Rutherford. That is very important to know if you have ancestry
in Rutherford. Hope this helps!

I love to research there; the people are some of the most helpful I've ever
encountered and their records are wonderful!

Subject: [NC-DISCUSS] A Cemetery lcoation?
I'm not sure which list I need to write to, but I need some help
for a
fella that is going to visit Rutherford County, NC mid 2004. He is
looking for the Brittain Presbyterian Cemetery. None of our efforts
searching the web have been successful.
Help!
