Well, Derick,
It does seem as if some folks in the project are a bit more "consumed"
with matters administrative and matters trivial than they are with the
matter of just helping other researchers with their genealogical
research.
My bet is that if you took a poll of our NCGenWeb membership, the
results would show the majority of us really don't care how many
genealogical projects anybody affiliates with, OR what the size or
placement of logos on one another's webpages might be.
As for the USGW project being a source of pride, imho that depends upon
what day/week/month/of the year/ you ask the question, particularly
given some of the behavior and actions of our "elected representatives."
I think at least some of us feel that the amount of time some folks are
spending on stuff like dreaming up pickier bylaws to address such trivia
as size and placement of project logos on volunteers' webpages, or how
to root out "troublemakers" - or folks they just don't like - from the
project, might be better spent performing a lookup, or offering some
other direct service to a researcher.
It's all getting just waaaaaay ridiculous if you ask me.

making a contribution, we need to re-focus our energy.
Membership in the USGenWeb Project is a source of pride to me. I hope
it is to you as well.
