An issue that I noticed recently......
I was using google to search for information on an ancestor. There were
many rootsweb links that came up that pointed to our county pages and the
archive pages. Unfortunately, these links are no good since we have moved
all data. I realize that the search engines will eventually get around to
re-indexing our pages. However, is there some way to submit a request now
to get those pages re-indexed?

Hi Jason,
I know for a fact that the folks at National (USGenWeb Project), as
well as our state organization are working hard to accommodate the
changes that have been suddenly thrust upon us. I can only urge
patience until the necessary changes have been made. Notifying Google
and other search engines to re-spider the sites has already been a
part of the NCGenWeb plan, initiated by our SC and the Asst. SCs. In
the meantime, I urge all CCs to notify their page users (via list
mail or on their index page) to change their bookmarks as I have
already done. There is also the option to make your RW index page a
re-direct. If you are willing to make a transition to the new
ncgenweb.us server, you have the option to revise your old RW page as follows:
<html>
<meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" content="0;
url=http://www.ncgenweb.us/[your county]/ndex.htm">
<head>
</body>
</html>
At the same time, you have the option of deleting everything you have
on the RW server. This is only a suggestion because once you have
done this, there is no going back. Make sure you have backed up
everything you are deleting.
