Hello CC's,
I have put a discussion board up on the CC site. Sharon said she was going to announce it
but she hasn't yet, I don't know why, but I am leaving to go out of town tomorrow
and want to get it started before I go. The link to it is at the bottom of the cc site at
http://www.betterthanmost.com/ncgencc/
What I hope we can do there is get to know each other in a personal way. I think the more
we get to know each other the less likely we will be to snap or get hostile toward people
whose views differ from our own. If you find out that one cc has been developing his
tennis game over the last 10 years and has become a pretty good player, I think you have
to respect that kind of dedication and effort. Finding out that another cc is an artist,
one is homeschooling 4 kids, one is dealing with a serious illness, one spends every
weekend from Friday night to Sunday night on the water in a sailboat, one is teaching
handicapped children, one lives on a ranch and takes care of many animals -- these things
make us the real people that we are.
Steven Page said here recently that our group seems to be dying out. I have to agree with
Steven. The reasons we don't talk with each other are probably various and numerous
but it is not a good thing. So I have put the board up and let's try this and see if
we can get some discussion and hopefully some comaradie going. (Yes, I am well aware that
I am an optimist!)
I invite you all to use it. If it gets nasty I will shut it down -- it would soon die
anyway because nobody would continue to come it if turned into a slamming board. I would
just like to try and get our 'group-ness' back. It is NOT just for political
discussion although we do need some of that; we can talk about our grandkids, summer
vacations, jobs, great genealogical discoveries, and anything at all, without filling up
everybody's mailboxes with trivia. Just come visit and make some new friends and tell
us what you've been doing the last few months.
