Diane,
I think we BOTH know that the project is dieing out because of RootsWeb.
Don't get me wrong, RootsWeb is a great repository of information and has
helped thousands of people (myself included). It is just that things keep
changing so much that the original outline of the GenWeb project is
basically no more. I also believe in change but there has been too much
change and without the consideration of the project as a whole and the CC's
who run the counties they host! I am sure this is why many sites have not
been updated recently... people are starting to give up from lack of
enthusiasm and the theory of "why even bother" since it does keep changing
behind their backs.
RootsWeb "may" be out to make a buck linking with
Ancestry.com, but who sold
us out to begin with? Why hasn't that person stood up to take defensive
actions against this final straw tactic or are they also in cahoots with
Ancestry.com? I have been out of the loop, enlighten me.
BTW... I have linked the query page to the new RootsWeb forum site... for
now.
Steven

But I'll tell you this--I won't be forced by ancestry to
accept their
cookies --so it looks like this host won't be having access to usgenweb RW
Forums anymore. That is NOT the way this project was suppose to be
organized.
I noticed that there are other counties not being updated as well. Went
to
the Perquiman co page and jeff swans email is bouncing.
I think this project is not going to survive if they can't get their act
together.
