Daryl Lytton,
Some say that things eventually come full circle.
And so it seems. I believe the saying is, "What goes around will come around."
Originally, the Grievance Committee was
established for the benefit of USGWP members who
felt that, for whatever reason, they had been
wronged. Prior to that, the Board had established
a procedure through the election of CC and SC
representatives. Some folks, rightly or wrongly,
felt that adequate measures would be taken by
elected officers (the AB) to arbitrate
grievances. Other folks felt that an empowered
Grievance Committee was the only way to address
complaints. Those who felt that the existing
representation failed to provide full protection
for grievants had their way and a Grievance
Committee was formed. Sadly, you and your
associates took full advantage of each and every
jot and every tittle spelled out in the Grievance
Committee process. Fortunately, the archives
record the manner in which you and your friends
attempted to use the Grievance Committee for your
own treacherous purposes. And now, you are at it anew and again.
The folks in the USGenWeb Project may not be
aware of the history and happenings of your
participation in our Project. Your history and
eventual expulsion from the NCGenWeb Project is a
matter of record. Also on record are the
proceedings of the IIGS and how you brought that
productive group to it's knees and caused its eventual demise.
Thankfully, the RW list archives have been
preserved and contain documentation on how you
and your associates were at first, placed on
read-only status on the state list. After
continued abuse, and for just cause, you and they
were expelled from our Project. (an example may
be found at:
http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/USGENWEB-ALL/2002-09/103128...).
You further sought to create strife and created
bogus web sites in an attempt to supplant the
NCGenWeb Project. You also created a web site
that, for all intents and purposes, purported to
be a original research material transcription
service (
www.webroots.org) when, in fact, it
consisted of material that had been purloined
from existing Internet sites and continues to do so.
Existing documentation will show that while I was
the NCGenWeb SC, you insulted the intelligence of
our members by appointing fictitious
personalities to Asst. County Coordinator
positions, legitimately hosted by the
NCGenWebProject. As the plot unfolded, you, as a
County Coordinator, would eventually relinquish
your position and turn it over to the fake ASCs
you had "appointed." It was for that reason that
you were expelled from the NCGenWeb Project.
Project members laughed hysterically when the
person of "Lt. Col. Maggie Olsen" was exposed as
just a creation of your fertile mind. Just for
the record, "she" was expelled from the NCGWP
along with several other co-conspirators. You and
your associates are on record as attempting to
create a pseudo-web presence in and for North
Carolina for the purpose of usurping the presence
of the NCGenWeb Project. The website
www.ncroots.com continues to exist as an empty
shell. This is the website that originally sought
to preempt the NCGenWeb. While it continues to
exist, it does so as a pathetic, parasitic site.
It has attempted to rip-off my own Burke County
NCGenWeb Project site
(
http://www.ncroots.com/Burke/), pirating the
work I have personally done. Hosted by
individuals, some of whom, sadly, are deceased,
it has made a poor attempt to cover the state of
North Carolina by mis-appropriating the work of
others. I say this because you, Daryl Lytton,
have been identified with these same individuals,
who, along with you, were sent packing from our
Project. Why the national USGWP has welcomed you
into their midst is a distinct and perplexing mystery to me!
Teresa Lindquist, one who provided overwhelming
support for you in the past, was given every
opportunity to renounce her hatred and invective
for our Project but chose not to do so, even
while serving on the USGWP Board. The Board
provided her with every opportunity to renounce
her inflammatory language and return to the fold
and be a team player but she chose not to work
within the system. Her eight year-old diatribe
(
http://www.radix.net/~merope/banned.htm) against
the USGWP still exists. She has provided enough
information to indicate whether or not she chose
to work within a well-established, non-profit
organization. And now you, Daryl Lytton, are left
to bear the torch for the disaffected, the
resentful, the rebellious and those who have not
been able to achieve their selfish objectives
from without. You have sought to infiltrate our
ranks and work your nefarious deeds within the
structure of our organization, one which you
never a part in creating. I am saddened by the
naivéty of our Board, thinking that you might
have learned a lesson by your expulsion from our NC Project.
When you were expelled from the NCGenWeb Project
in 2002 for just cause, it was my fervent desire
that the national organization would recognize
that this action had enough legitimate merit to
extend to your expulsion from the Project as a
whole. Sadly, trouble-makers like you somehow
manage to establish a foothold and are darn near
impossible to get rid of, much like cockroaches.
I have nothing but admiration for the Board and
applaud them for extending every courtesy, even
in their attempt to accommodate those who have
made conscious efforts to undermine our
organization. It seems that the USGWP Project
Board has provided you, Daryl Lytton, the same
measure of tolerance that was accorded to Teresa
Lindquist. In my personal opinion, that measure
of grace was undeserved by her and is now
undeserved by you. It is my fervent desire that
you are declared by the USGWP, as the NCGenWeb
Project declared you, A MEMBER NOT IN GOOD STANDING.

I do have the proof. The NC leaned heavily on the ABees to reject the

The sad part is if you trace the grudges, the foundation for them is that
those two have stances that all members should comply with the rules of the
Project, and should be treated equally and fairly and with justice. Many
members who have those beliefs are branded as troublemakers and
'dissidents' by the political cliques.

They are directly involved by changing the GC Procedures voted into place
by the membership, which stipulates proposed slates get sent to the AB for
approval, there is nothing that says 'or reject'.
When I saw the "for approval" part I compared it with the EC procedures
which state the AB can approve or not approve an EC slate. Since there is a
difference in the wording, and since the AB can hear appeals of grievance
outcomes only related to the GC procedures and process, it was obvious to
me that the AB could only reject an GC slate if the prospective members
didn't meet the GC procedures and process.
When the GC Procedures were passed by the AB, I posted a message here
congratulating them for being willing to remove them selves from having any
part of the grievance process ... that was one of the primary reasons the
procedures were developed, because of the perception that members couldn't
get treated fairly if the AB heard grievances.
There are currently grievances against the AB, and there are grievances
filed by members who have the fairness and justice stance ... the
"troublemakers" ... and the AB is directly involved if they are able to
dictate who can and cannot be on the GC, and can reject a slate containing
folks who stand for fairness and justice within the Project.
The AB should stick to the voted-in procedures ... they shouldn't be
allowed to pick and choose GC members who will be in charge of grievances
filed against the AB, individual ABees or political cliquees. There is
nothing fair or just about that, at all.
I also note that within the current batch of GC volunteers, is someone with
the preconceived stance that 'bad' CCs and the so-called 'troublemakers'
should be rooted out of the Project. How can CCs expect to be treated
fairly by someone like that?
