Hi Angie! There really isn't any issue of
if folks believe it's in violation
of the bylaws or not, as the Bylaws are quite clear that "State projects are
empowered to develop/adopt any additional rules/bylaws and guidelines...." It
doesn't say State Coordinators, it says "State projects", and the state
projects are the CC's as the Bylaws also say the "foundation of the
organization shall be at the local websites (county...."
Even the NCGenWeb page for volunteers that has the state rules and guidelines
say "The following guidelines are based on the bylaws of the USGenWeb Project,
the USGenWeb guidelines for local pages, and past votes and discussion by the
NCGenWeb county coordinators...." "Votes" and "disussion" by the
CC's are the
key words.
I'm sure, or at least I hope, you understand the reason for USGenWeb bylaws
being so specific, is so the AB or other 'leaders' can't push bylaws, rules,
guidelines, or whatever else they are called, down the throats of the CC's
without the CC's voting upon them.
How would you like it if all the sudden the SC said it was a requirement of
North Carolina CC's to have the state logo on our home pages, without the CC's
voting on it? Whoops! Bad example...it *is* a requirement, but you haven't
done it :)
