Well Derick, what have you done for the USGenWeb lately? You can't even get
your own county pages updated after links have been dead for a year now.
Genconnect no longer exist and your links continue to send people to a
catch-all site at Ancestry.

You don't even seem to know our own project name. It is specifically spelled
out in the bylaws of the USGenWeb Project. It is NCGenWeb Project and --we
were specifically asked to write it that way. If you as SC are sloppy with
the project, you are saying it is okay for others to be sloppy with the
project. You say one thing--but do another. Do you want to do what is right
or just talk about it?

Dear folks,
Having just returned from a ten-day trip to see my new granddaughters
(Chloe Kerrigan Hartshorn, 9 lb., 5 oz, b. 6-16-02, Candler Hosp, Savannah,
Chatham, GA and Kadee Elizabeth Southers, 8 lb., 8 oz., b. 8-16-02,
Fayetteville Medical Center, Fayetteville, Fayette, GA ), I'm pleased to
see that things have settled down to a muffled roar. Many thanks to Paul,
Angie and Elizabeth for their support during my absence.
To Angie, who has disagreed with me many, many times, and on many, many
occasions, thanks for supporting the NCGW concept which I think can work
for everyone's good. I knew before I appointed you as ACS that you would
represent an unbiased view. Thanks very much for your efforts to share it
without being abrasive. I can't imagine why anyone would even suggest that
I have ulterior motives with this plan. Having been with the NCGenWeb
Project at its inception, my only desire is to see it continue in its
pre-eminent position as leader in the world of FREE GENEALOGY. Could anyone
wish for anything less??? God knows, I would much, much rather be
researching and writing than trying to cope with this internecine
posturing. Who needs these political gyrations and the attending
aggravation? NOT ME! Why? Because I've been here since the start and I am
USGW, through and through. I support the original concept, regardless of
who is riding the crest. My job description includes communicating with all
of my state's CCs. The only way I have to "legally" to communicate with
them is to address them individually or to use the DISCUSS list, hoping
that some would send a copy to the majority who are disgusted with the
wasteful goings-on and refuse to subscribe to it. I don't have time for
jibing, jabbing, insulting, wasting good time, posturing, politickin' and
non-genealogical garbage. If I wasn't concerned with the future of the
NCGW, I'd drop this so-called position of State Coordinator like a bad
habit. As it is, I'm going to stick around here and run this thing to
provide the maximum benefit for the genealogical public---FREE!
All other entities are encouraged to lead, follow or get the heck out of
the way.
Sincere best wishes to all,
Derick S. Hartshorn
