I didn't want to leave without saying goodbye. After developing Wayne County for five
years, I am satisfied with what I have built there -- 10mb, 684 files on 260 pages -- and
want to move on to some other projects. The most rewarding aspect of doing Wayne County
was the relationships I developed with some of the site users, and I do expect those
friendships to endure. The most disappointing aspect was the environment within NCGW.
There is no warmth or comraderie within this group; had there been, it would have been
more difficult for me to leave, and perhaps, reason enough for me to continue.
But, alas, that was not to be and so I am turning Wayne County over to Terria Baynor who
offered to take it from me and to build it into an even better site. I hope she does.
I have had Richmond County for only a year, picking it up when it was taken away from
another host. Although I was born there and grew up there, my family's roots are not
there. I am grateful to Myrtle Bridges for wanting it; her roots are there and she has
demonstrated a real dedication to genealogy in the area with the books she has written.
In both instances, I leave with the comfort of knowing that my counties are in very good
hands. That was of the utmost importance to me. If you are a neighboring county or have
links to Wayne or Richmond County, please update your links to the new urls.
