FreeFind - The FreeFind people have said that they will do the search
we need for all NCGenWeb county pages along with archives pages at no
cost. This makes FreeFind one viable option for the statewide search
engine.
Google - Google is obviously a great search engine, but I'm not
familiar with using them on my own web pages. I did do research on
Google's site and I do see where they have an option to set up a
search tool, with no advertising to non-profits (not sure if they are
legalistic about this) - and I don't see anything immediate about a
cost or page limit.
On the surface, the Google search option seems better (just because of
no advertising), but I'd really like to hear from someone that may be
using Google to see what they think - plus if anyone has any
information to confirm that Google does not have a page limit and that
Google is free regardless of the number of pages, that would be
appreciated.
