As Elizabeth stated, there are current issues that may
concern all of us and thus they do merit discussion.
The only thing that I can add at this time is that the
current AB is actively discussing questions of branding the
USGenWeb county sites with banners that promote both
Rootsweb and
Ancestry.com. While they temporarily cached
each and every USGenWeb site, they have already backed off
from that move. Thus far, we have not gotten an answer about
the issue of branding the USGenWeb sites hosted on
Rootsweb.com with the banners. The USGenWeb has always
been about providing free data for researchers and the
entire genealogy community has spoken out about recent steps
taken by TGN, the parent company of
Ancestry.com.
