From Maggie:
No, actually, this was from Daryl. But then again, they always seem to be
in constant contact.
"At 9:30am today, Sep 6th, Maggie Olson, aka Lt. Col., retired
due to
neurological damage received during the Sep 11th attack upon the Pentegon,
suffered a heart attack, in her doctors office while undergoing tests. The
heart attack was due to [a] stress[full incident within the last 12 hours],
according to her doctors statement.
"At 4am this morning, the Lt. Col. sent a message to unnamed AB members,
complaining about being unable to sleep due to the stress of being harassed
by repeatedly being unjustifiably unsubscribed from the NCGenWeb-Discuss
list by
the NCGenWeb SC, Derick Hartshorn, and the stress of knowing other NCGenWeb
CC's are also being subjected to intimidating personal irrational attacks
initiated by Derick [and being unsubbed]."
While experiencing a terrorist attack first hand certainly must be a
traumatic experience, only one thing is worse: being unsubbed!!
Could this be the same Maggie who wrote us 6 Aug 2002 that, "Just because
I am on this list as an old lady with cataracts does not mean I am stupid
and blind!"
No I would certainly hope not. It could interfere with the duties of an
active duty Lt. Col. in the US___.
Or perhaps it is the Maggie who told us "It's time for my afternoon
tea." I guess they still have tea breaks at the Pentegon.
Background information supplied to the list by Lt. Col. Maggie Olson,
US{whatever], JAG, reads as follows:
"I'm a child psych., have set up and run several of my own businesses,
lived in Haight-Asbury as a hippy, do HTML the old fashioned way - by hand,
well versed in bylaws and guidelines and that sort of ilk, setting up
nonprofits, been a mediator, and I've done lots of other stuff."
When asked about her web domain (WEBROOTS), Lt. Col. Maggie replied:
Maggie Olson maggieo(a)member-webroots.org writes:
http://www.webroots.org is a nonprofit place with no paid directors, and no
ads on their pages.
Q: "So who is on the board of this nonprofit, and what is its
physical/snail mail/ location?"
A: "None of the organizers names are listed on any of their main pages.
They seem to be more interested in their project than in fame and glory for
themselves. A check on the domain name shows they have their own servers
independant of any other genealogy org such as USGenNet, AHGP, and
USGW.org. Their snail-mail address is in Arizona.
I perhaps should have mentioned in my original message that they are not
another USGenWeb clone, and that though I donated to become a member and
further their cause their site is free access."
I'm sure it doesn't come as any great surprise that WEBROOTS is owned by
none other than Daryl Lytton.
We all owe a debt of thanks to Daryl who has kept us informed about the Lt.
Col. When asked which branch of the service
the Lt. Col. was in, Daryl wasn't sure. (I'm sure it isn't the US Navy or
Coast Guard.) But he did have all the other details.
I'm sure there will be follow ups to this. Several folks have taken it upon
themselves to investigate this remarkable lady and her eclectic talents.
Stay tuned for the next exciting chapter.
