Unless I am terribly mistaken BJ Rountree resigned from our NCGenWeb
Project, as did Terria Baynor. According to list protocol, they no longer
have posting rights to our list, let alone cross-posting rights from ANY list.
Unless BJ or Terria have authority as a USGenWeb CC or Co-CC in the
NCGenWeb Project (a record of their resignations exists within the NCGW)
they are required to removed from this list. If they are affiliated with
another Project, that is that Project's problem.
Diane Kelly is hearby directed to remove these names from any and all
NCGenWeb pages which bear the names of these individuals who have resigned.
This shall include Terria Baynor on Wayne county and BJ Rountree
on Albemarle and Bath counties. The page owner retains the right to name
other assistants.

As an ex member who was driven out of NC by the unstable
attitudes of Derick (SC of NC) I totally agree-- and also request
that the AB step in and do something that would make a difference in the
quality of life in NCGenWeb and any other state where the CCs are being
mistreated. I don't know how most of you feel , but I didn't see need of
any major changes when Derick took over. Decisions are made without the ok of
the CC's, we are the heart of the project, and the attitude of some, who
takes it
upon themselves who make absurd charges, who try to discredit others is so
sad and foolish. The AB board needs to sit up, take a good look around and
do something about this.

For: the AB
Hello AB! We, who have been wronged in NC, are asking you to consider
this one particular item for immediate action, on the grounds that it is
official RootsWeb policy that USGenWeb lists are under the management of the
AB; and, because this matter should never have happened in the first place,
should not have to go through a greivance procedure. The Board should
recognize the wrong that was done, and seek to right those wrongs.
The matter should have never have happened, because RootsWeb List Policy,
USGenWeb bylaws, and the authority of the AB, were all usurped.
The matter is of Derick Hartshorn (derickh(a)charter.net) and Paul Buckley
(pauldbuckley(a)worldnet.att.net), unsubscribing volunteers without authority
& in a reckless prejudicial manner, from NCGenWeb-DISCUSS-L.
As noted from Derick's message posted on Sep 6th to USGenWeb-ALL he states
he
"perceive posts" made previously by Daryl,Diane,Maggie to be in "violation
of RootsWeb AUP as follows: Paragraph 8: You should not decrease the
enjoyment of others."
Derick goes on to say he is, "making a formal complaint to RootsWeb" and,
"I
request that these individuals who have violated the very basic tenets of
the
USGenWeb Project be placed on read-only status or removed entirely,
depending
on the policy of RootsWeb." But he doesn't get an affirmative decision from
RW or USGenWeb.
Derick proceeded to unsub us by his own will, without notification to us,
and without giving us a reason and without RW affirmation for his actions.
All he did was post that message to ALL.
He deceived AB members, and other USGenWeb members, by leading you and them,
into believing we would be unsubscribed "depending on the policy of
RootsWeb."
Derick usurped RootsWeb List Policy by not doing what he stated he would do;
he did not let RootsWeb determine what their AUP means. He usurped the
USGenWeb bylaw that describes what to do if members "perceive" problems with
other members, file a greivance. He usurped the AB by not filing a greivance
and letting the AB make an opinion.
Since there are no NCGenWeb-DISCUSS list rules, no NCGenWeb Bylaws, no
NCGenWeb Guidelines, Derick is bound to follow established procedure,
especially since he said it's his personal opinion that our posts were
offensive to him.
In short, by the usurption, Derick demonstrated he believes he is above the
RootsWeb List Policy and AUP, above the USGenWeb bylaws, and above the AB
authority which should be the one to make opinions on greivances.
It should be noted that it was Derick who initiated postings asking
questions
and making statements to us, that some of us replied to. Obviously if he had
not
initiated things, there would have been no reply message from us.
Since the lists are under authority of the AB, we ask that you Tell Derick
and
Paul Buckley(neither will admit being the one who unsubbed us) to immediatly
re-subscribe all three CCs, instead of *suggesting it or making it your
*opinon.
Supporting Statements:
>From Megan aka Piglet, former USGenWeb NC, and IMHO a RootsWeb list and list
policy expert, "...I can't read this as *anything* but political
posturing...."
>From a former NCGenWeb SC, former NCGenWeb-DISCUSS List Admin, current
NCGenWeb ASC, "The DISCUSS list was set up as a forum for CCs to express
their
opinions, and I don't think anyone should be unsubbed from it for anything
short of outright, blatant slander or truly offensive comments."
**The three who were unsubscribed were not the ones doing the slandering.
