Nola,
First if you had contacted me privately, I would have given you a list of
the files that were donated to Stanly Co. by other individuals and of
course let you copy the queries and those files. I stated in my
resignation that if there were any questions about the Stanly page that
someone from NCGenWeb (besides Derick) could contact me. That is why I
was checking the Stanly Co., NCGenWeb page to see who was the new Stanly
Co. CC, so I could transfer any files which should be on the Stanly
page to her. However, instead of taking the ethical route of contacting me
about any files which belonged with NCGenWeb, you choose to go ahead and
copy all files, many which should never have been copied.
Second, you said "I still do not know how I managed to get your
index online unless you perhaps removed the page you left linking to your
new page." Since you still do not understand the situation, I will
explain it again. My index page has not been at Rootsweb for at least
three years. The only way my page got there is by someone copying it from
eskimo.com and putting it on Rootsweb. Please do not imply my index page
being copied to Rootsweb is an innocent mistake caused by my actions.
Files do not move themselves.
Third, the forwarding page at Rootsweb to my Stanly Co. page at
eskimo.com
is at least three years old. It was the only file in the Stanly Co.
Rootsweb account and was not put up after my resignation. I do not
appreciate your implication that I was using NCGenWeb to link to my
non-NCGenWeb page. Once you took over the Rootsweb account, you were
responsible for its content, not I. (You said "I did not remove it even
though you were using a GenWeb link to direct people to your private page
simply because I wanted you feel better about your departure and I
certainly did not wish to fuel your irritation by removing your private
link until I had the new page ready to go online.")
A list of the material which belongs with the Stanly Co., NCGenWeb page
is included below. Please erase all files that are not on the list.
I really do not want to hear any more excuses or waste any more time
commenting on this. I am glad to see someone working on the Stanly Co.
page, but please be more careful with copyrighted material in the future.

Files to be placed on the Stanly Co., NCGenWeb page:
1. Any file relating to queries. However, I am keeping my query board, so
you will have to start another. Queries on my query board can be copied.
2. Civil War Regiments at:
http://www.eskimo.com/~lcsims/regiment.html
http://www.eskimo.com/~lcsims/regiment2.html
3. Cemeteries (These might also be at the Archives) at:
http://www.eskimo.com/~lcsims/kendall.html
http://www.eskimo.com/~lcsims/anderson.html
http://www.eskimo.com/~lcsims/running-creek.html
Items from #2 and #3 were donated by other researchers.

Leah,
I apologize once again. I have checked my logs and it looks like I did
move some of the material on Dec. 9 from the old GenWeb site.
If you will please give me a list of what you claim as your copyrighted
material vs what others have contributed to the GenWeb page, I will make
absolutely certain the pages are deleted IMMEDIATELY and get the home page
online. For example, the queries would seem to be those left by the GenWeb
visitors. There are also other records that appear to have been donated to
GenWeb that are not your personal material. However, I will delete even the
GenWeb queries and do a new query page if you wish to claim a copyright to
other's messages, postings, etc. Although you stored the material on your
private ISP, it would seem to me that when people contributed the material
to the GenWeb site, you would not like to claim it.
As I said, I looked at the page on Wednesday and at that time the only index
page was the link to your NEW page which I intentionally left to allow
visitors to find you easily. I still do not know how I managed to get your
index online unless you perhaps removed the page you left linking to your
new page.
I am responding only because I want the proper person blamed and fear that
if there is any guilt, it must be mine. I hate to see the wrong person
blamed for my goofs. Now off to get the egg off my face. You may send me
the list of what you claim a copyright to privately. If you wish to claim
the query pages as well as the other contributions to GenWeb, I will simply
post a request on the page asking the contributors to re-submit to the
GenWeb page.
