Elizabeth,
Sorry to take so long in getting back to you. I have been trying to get an
"official" opinion on the abbreviations and with little success. In the
Mecklenburg court clerk records, following is noted:
All court records are maintained by the Superior Court Clerk and several notations are
present:
ACC = Assistant Court Clerk
ASCC = Assistant Superior Court Clerk
CC = Court Clerk
SCC = Superior Court Clerk
CCC = Civil Court Clerk
Again, these are not "official" but observed.
To add to the confusion, property settlements in the early days were noted in court minute
books with actual accounting recorded at the Register of Deeds Office.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Paul

Subject: [NCGENWEB-DISCUSS] deed terminology
From the NCGenWeb help line:
Would CC on an 18th century NC deed stand for Chain Carrier, or Clerk of Court?
What about CCC? SCC?
