Fellow CC's, et al
I started with the USGenWeb Project some time in
early 1997. I shyly took a county in Michigan where
my wife's family is from in hopes we could share a new
hobby. It soon became a second career. Many of you
know what I mean. If you are like me, you spend just as
much time involved with your counties and pages as you
do at work and with family and friends. Sometimes more.
I came to Pitt County, North Carolina through my own
research of my EASON line. I was asked to assist the
existing co-CC's there and soon, I just sort of took over.
They agreed, and I don't think I intended to at first but I
enjoy my own research and helping others in the process
is very rewarding. I organized, this past year, an effort
that involved about 6 regular mailing list members and
together we transcribed, proofread and placed on-line the
1790, 1800 and 1810 Pitt County Census. My time
working with Pitt County has been very rewarding and
I intend to stay.
I got involved with the USGenWeb Census Project and
today it is the fastest growing, most prolific Project outside
of the normal County pages. I have held the position of
Project Coordinator, Asst. Coordinator, and I also maintain
the states of California and Texas. It is a self sufficient Project
with guidelines and Bylaws that were created by the Members,
with them foremost in mind, to help them and protect them.
I am a member of Saving
Graves.com at
http://www.savinggraves.com
which is designed as an informational set of pages of public
resources for the reporting of abandoned, neglected and/or
vandalized cemeteries. I also have a private website where I
have transcriptions of cemeteries that I have done, and some
that others have passed on to me at:
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/1817/Cemeteries/index.html
I have been active in just about every area of the USGenWeb
Project, except as an SC. I would be proud to do so now.
Since someone has decided that they trust me enough to place
a nomination for me, and another has seconded it, I herewith
thank them for their faith and accept the nomination as NCGW SC.
There may be questions that some have and I am not sure what
the current leadership think about campaigning questions taken
on this list, but if you prefer, you are welcome to write to me and
ask whatever is on your mind, at: Easons(a)Eason.net
Thank you,
Ronald Eason
