Dear friends, all,
From June/July, 1996, when the NCGW began and accepted my unsponsored
Catawba County Genealogy page into the fold, I have always tried to do the
best I could in providing historical and genealogical information. From the
very beginning of the NCGW, I have always supported the leadership, in
spite of some decisions that I might have chosen to do differently. Any
time I had a disagreement I would always privately contact the leadership
and share my views. I have ALWAYS wanted to see harmony in this
organization, as I enjoyed in my prior business life. For that reason, and
for the challenge of being a part of a fine organization, working alongside
those who love genealogy as I do, I accept the nomination as NCGW SC.
I admit to having been somewhat short with some folks in the past. My
favorite attitude is "nice" which I enjoy more than any other temperament.
As an Asst. SC, I was really on the outside. My duties, during the past
four years have been in a supportive role. I volunteered as "help desk guy"
during the leadership of Sharon and Elizabeth. I have done very little else
during my time as ASC except to try to fend off those who chose to snipe at
our SC (regardless of who that SC was at the time).
I have been accused of a bunch of stuff but my life is an open book. Google
lists me 1,170 times ("Derick Hartshorn"). If you would like to know more
about me, look at the third listing down. It's

If you have any questions you might like to ask me (in regard to the NCGW)
please send me mail at derickh(a)charter.net
To those who nominated me for this office, I thank you for this confidence
in me. I promise that I will do my best to validate your decision.

The nomination of Angie Rayfield for the position of SC is acknowledged. Is
there a second?
The nomination of Elizabeth Harris for the position of SC is acknowledged.
Declination of her nomination is acknowledged as follows:
"While I am flattered at the kind nomination submitted by the CC from
Vance County, I respectfully decline.
