According to your Organizational Plan you say about your
"board"..... "They
shall have voting power over issues that are directed to them from other
sources (described below)." If they have voting powers then why can't the
CC's have a voice in voting for who will be on the board? The national
project provides this oppportunity for us to vote on our AB representatives.
Nowhere in our national bylaws does it give you the authority to make
up
this plan/guidelines or bylaws without the "state project" involved. The
state project means all the CC's in this state, not one person.
Derick's revisions specify that the board is an advisory board only, and
not a controlling authority. The voting powers are, essentially,
meaningless. The SC is not bound by the opinions of the board. Nowhere in
the national bylaws does it require that the SC allow CCs to choose the
people that he/she takes advice from.
Derick has taken an unpredecented step to put everything out in the open,
so that everyone knows who is doing what. He could have simply announced
his choices as ASCs and gone on about his business in the exact same manner
as he's outlined, but without ever telling anyone his logic or
reasoning. Would this have been a better way to operate? Personally, I
don't think so.
This appears to be a discussion that's going nowhere. I would respectfully
suggest at this point that anyone who feels that Derick's plan is a
grievous violation of USGW by-laws should take their complaints through the
appropriate grievance channel, as set forth in those same by-laws. If
Derick's interpretation of his authority and responsibilities is invalid,
then so be it, but that interpretation of the national by-laws should come
through the proper channels.
