A bit less than 2 years ago Sharon , the last SC, brought up regions and
regional matters with overseering appointed managers, and a large group of
the membership said they didn't want regions and regional managers. The
subject was dropped.
I'm not trying to be argumentative or make a personal attack, but it sounds
an awful lot like what's being said is "The SC has a right to appoint
assistants as long as he does it the way that I want it done and no other
method is acceptable."
Perhaps everyone should take another look at what's actually been set
up. The page is on line at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncgenweb/organiza.htm. It explains the regional
divisions very plainly, and it appears very clear that it's got nothing to
do with "managing." It's simply an easy way to divide effort and
responsibility.
From some of the arguments that have been raised, it almost appears as
though there are people complaining that haven't even looked at the
organization plan. If you're not interested in reading it, fine. If you
believe that Derick is acting within his purview as SC, OK. If you don't
care one way or other what everyone else does if they just leave you along
to work on your page, cool <g>. But I think it's only fair that if someone
is planning to protest or complain, that he/she should have READ it
first. If nothing else, it's irresponsible and hypocritical to do otherwise.
We want to just do our counties...and let Derick and his
assistants do the job of managing the webpage, seeking new volunteers to
keeep counties adopted, and help him check that alll pages are in
compliance.
Pardon my sarcasm, but gosh and jeepers, that's what the organizational
plan addresses. Read it?
They are already strongly wreaking from the tone of "yes"
men. Them against
us...has already started with your board.
I assume you're referring to me. Well, I'm no one's "yes man," or
"yes
woman," for that matter. You can rest assured that if I disagreed with
Derick, I'd be more than happy to say so. I don't think anyone that's been
on this list with me for any length of time can honestly say that I don't
express my opinion. I've always done so, whether or not I've agreed with
the SC in office at that time -- and I've frequently disagreed. The "us
against them" attitude I've seen hasn't been coming from the ASCs.
Although it's not necessarily my place to do so, I would encourage and
invite anyone who has read the organizational plan and has any comments,
questions or suggestions to speak up.
Angie
