Today I was trying to find contact information for a particular county's
Register of Deeds office, so that I could phone to ask the cost of
copies in order to include the right amount with my initial request and
expedite matters.
Naturally, my first "try" was with that county's NCGenWeb site, and
there was no contact information listed at all - no location, address,
phone number, nothing.
So I just thought I'd "suggest" this as good information to put on our
sites - I expect lots of people need this information, esp. given the
EXORBITANT ($20) KING'S RANSOM that NC Archives now wants from those
unfortunate souls who no longer live where their ancestors did! ;-)
I'm not suggesting this as a "requirement" or anything....but I do think
this is among that "basic research help" which folks expect (or hope) to
find on our websites.
I suggest providing contact info for Register of Deeds, Clerk of Court,
and library(ies).
