Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I did not jump to any conclusions Diane, nor do I feel I wasted my time.
The email was not directed at you, or your pages, it was not directed at
anyone, and I saw many other things that could have been pointed out, but
did not want to come across as someone complaining against her fellow cc's.
Like I said, I also so many pages that show what wonderful talent we have
here in NC. We have MUCH to be proud of!! That is something positive, and a
much better focus of our energies. A very smart man I know said "don't ever
put your name on something that you cannot be proud of" and I myself try to
live by that in all aspects of my life, including email messages I send out.
Since you asked, I do have a suggestion for you.
As I stated, your NCGenWeb Counties page
http://www.ncroots.com/ncgwLinks.htm
Lists Patty Day as the CC for Glasgow County. While there is an old Glasgow
County page online, it is not a county project page, it is not updated, just
points people to the Greene County Page.
Patty Day has left the NCGenWeb Project, in fact right now is not involved
in internet genealogy at all (due to personal reasons) so at the very least
you should really remove her name (an email link) as the Glasgow cc. (I know
all this as she turned over her project pages both NCGenWeb and Independent
to me until such as a time as she is ready to jump back in)

I have pretty much kept quiet the past couple of years, I unsubbed from this
list two years ago, and only re-subbed during the last election.
I asked a few weeks ago to be unsubbed again, because quite frankly this IS
NOT a discuss list, its a BASH your fellow cc's list.
As I have not yet been unsubbed I am going to put my two cents in:
Its real easy for all of us to point accusing fingers, and to complain about
what are fellow cc's are doing, or not doing. But if we are going to do this
lets start in our own back yards.
The Albemarle County front page is on http://ncroots.com/Albemarle/ but
credits USGenNet as the web host.
There is also a link to North Carolina GenWeb Project- County selection
links, but lo and behold the link does not bring you to the NCGenWeb
Projects county selection page, it brings you to
http://www.ncroots.com/ncgwLinks.htm
How does this help or promote our project? As a matter of fact, One of the
counties I currently handle is listed as being handled by the old webmaster.
While our own NCGenWeb Project page directs vistors looking for Glasgow
County information to the Greene County Page, this page directs them to a
Glasgow County page that is shown as being handled by a cc who has left the
project. This page gives a brief history of Glasgow County and tells
visitors that the County has been been merged with the Greene County
project. (The page IS linked on the Greene County site, so visitors can find
the history of the county)
Same thing with Bath, front page on one server, credit given to another.
Same misleading links for NCGenWeb County selection.
The front page of Bladen County says it was last updated Friday, April 19,
2002
While the front page of Bute has all the required logos they are not linked
back to each project. (as far as I can see)
The Perquimans page does link to the NCGenWeb project but does not have
either required logo, or link back to the USGenWeb main page.
I have seen many USGenWeb logos that are not on the USGenWeb projects
approved logo page.
I am NOT trying to single anybody out here, just trying to make a point, if
you feel the need to complain about a fellow cc and their project pages,
look at your own pages first!!!
BTW in perusing the project pages this evening, I HAVE to say, there are
really some GREAT county websites representing the NCGenWeb Project!! Good
Work cc's!!
If we put as much effort into our counties as we do in trying to find
something wrong with someone else, we cannot fail to do anything but shine!
(now I am going to take my own advice and go check my county pages!!)
