The site works fine. Its just that we'd have to change our links
where they say <
http://www.mtgenweb.org/...>
we need instead: <
http://96.0.215.108/...>
As Jim noted in a separate email, that would need to be done,
apparently, in the state website internally as well.
(though I think that could be solved for the future with "relative
links")
Going that route would mean that if/when the server were
changed, we'd all have to fix urls.
With the paid domain name, the server can be changed
transparently-- in other words, the webmaster can have
the numbers associated with the name fixed, and nobody
has to do anything different.
So there are trade-offs.
One costs money and involves repeat business with jerks,
and the other can be tedious to change, but free of money and jerks.
I'm cheap and independent, and avoid highway robbers! :-)
